Detection of Biodiesel in Diesel Fuel

Since October of 1st, 2009 accordingly to 2003/30/EK directive diesel fuel must contain 5% biodiesel additive. On base of this directive we introduce you new instrument in our product range for determining % biodiesel FAME (fatty-acid methyl ester) in diesel fuel accordingly to EN 14078 standard.

Until now, this analytical method has been carried out with expensive, lab based instruments.  A2 Technologies’ breakthroughs in sampling, instrument design and easy to use, purpose-driven software enables this powerful technology to provide instantaneous, on site biodiesel analysis.
FTIR spectroscopy is the ASTM approved method for determining % biodiesel FAME (fatty-acid methyl ester) in diesel fuel.  Until now, this analytical method has been carried out with expensive, lab based instruments.  A2 Technologies’ breakthroughs in sampling, instrument design and easy to use, purpose-driven software enables this powerful technology to provide instantaneous, on site biodiesel analysis.

ASTM D7371-07 and European Union EN 14078 specify a FTIR method for the determining the % biodiesel in diesel

2 Techologies PAL analyzers are designed to be used in the field or in the lab for immediate results:

• get % biodiesel measurements where and when you need them

• precise and accurate answers every time

no need to wait for results!

simple software operation, no maintenance required

compact benchtop or battery-operated portable system available

innovative sample analysis methods affords fast, low level % biodiesel analysis

our PAL systems are priced right

Advantages of A2’s instruments:

Accurate Analysis with Exceptional Limits of Detection and Range

To 250 ppm (measure to 0.025% biodiesel in petrodiesel)

One system handles the entire biodiesel range (i.e., to 20%) while also capable of handling the ppm range.

Ease of Use/Speed

Analysis time of less than 2 minutes from sample introduction to sample clean-up

TumblIR sampling interface makes analysis by IR transmission analysis remarkably straightforward

Software and user interface are highly intuitive and visual - “one click” software to % biodiesel measurement report and out-of-spec warning message

Reliability

Analyzer components designed from the ground-up for operation in demanding environments

Combination of ease-of-use and design ruggedness translates to more accurate answers in less time, since there is far less chance of operator error and analyzer malfunction.

Flexibility

Bench-top analyzers or battery operated portable systems available

TumblIR handles a much broader range of common %biodiesel concentrations

PDA or computer operation

TumblIR (patent pending):

Coupled with the excellent performance characteristics of the PAL analyzers, provides required lower range of % biodiesel measurement

- One sampling interface covers the parts-per-million to parts-per-hundred analysis range (from 0.025% to 20%)

Significantly reduces the risk of user error when placing sample on analyzer

- reproducible pathlength means reliable answers

Far easier to use and far easier to clean than standard transmission cells

- faster sample analysis time and greater measurement accuracy

1. Revolutionizes how biodiesel transmission analysis is carried out

2. Easy sample placement

3. Highly reproducible pathlength

4. Fast and easy to use

5. Simple to clean

6. Minimum solvent required for cleaning

Measurement of 1% Biodiesel in Diesel Fuel from 0.025% to 20% Range
